Having been brought up as a gamekeeper’s son, Douglas is well acquainted with the sporting life and is a keen angler. Therefore his knowledge and expertise in the use of walking sticks is considerable.

Douglas lives in the picturesque village of Strathtay near to Pitlochry on the banks of the river Tay in Perthshire. He learned the art of Stick dressing and stickmaking a number of years ago in the Lammermuir hills. At that time it was a relaxing hobby and entering local stick shows added that little bit of competition needed to keep your standard high.

He has now, after much pushing by friends and customers been persuaded that his sticks and crooks are of such a high standard that they are good enough to support a successful business.
